Multi-media piece, split-canvas, with a textured surface. A single point splits into a fan, with contrasting texture: like north and south, positive and negative. A ‘vortex’ shape is created on the surface, often witnessed in science, such as with electromagnetism. Dichotomies that we often see and grow accustomed to in life.
The sections of the canvas have a contrasting paint dynamic. A rough, rustic and industrial styled paint strokes that contrast with the strips of canvas around it. Selective colouring added to bring out some of the textured surface with more clarity.
Typographical detailing added. Varied lettering detail, engages with the viewer, as they identify different words and phrasing. The wording with most clarity is the well known Shakespeare quote: “To Be Or Not To Be”, written on the canvas. Visually, it’s not simple to read and engages the viewer to work out what the text says.
Varying blue pigments, sky blue, black & white. Colours chosen in order to complement and contrast, in certain areas.
